  4. About NewsHopper 1.2
  5.  
  6. Version 1.2 is a minor upgrade to version 1.1, mainly to support the iso-2022-jp character set.
  7. However, this version also includes a number of enhancements and bug fixes, and it is recommended that all NewsHopper users upgrade to this version.

  9. Upgrading

  11. NewsHopper 1.2 is backward and upward compatible with version 1.1.
  12. Upgrading is simply a matter of making sure you start the right application.

  16. Ñ Support for newsgroups that use iso-2022-jp.
  17.  
  18. Ñ NewsHopper now requires Internet Config 1.1. It is still possible to use NewsHopper without IC installed, but if it is, it must be version 1.1.

  20. Internet Config 1.1 is used to implement Command-clicking on URLs in the TextEdit-free Article Viewer.
  21. The "Create URL..." command has been removed.

  23. Ñ Support for Claris Emailer (version 1.0v2 or higher) as well as Eudora as mailer helper application.

  27. Ñ The font used for composing article using NewsHopper's internal editor can be set to something other than Monaco 9.

  29. Ñ NewsHopper could sometimes create invalid "Message-ID" header lines when posting articles.

  31. Ñ The "Find" command would fail to search a newsgroup if it did not contain at least one complete article.

  33. Ñ The Font for the Article Viewer can be set to the System's font (Chicago)

  35. Ñ When downloading complete articles, the cursor no longer changes to the watch when the the data is saved to disk.

  37. Ñ When trying to disconnect from the news server after a line drop, NewsHopper could remain in the "Cancelling" state indefinitely.

  39. Ñ The distribution field when creating or following up an article is now optionnal. If it is left blank, no "Distribution" header will be inserted.

  59. helper app "expander2" if you hold the Option key while selecting "Extract Binaries"

  61. Ñ Keyboard equivalents for "Add To Clippings File" and "Group Settings"

  63. Ñ The name of Eudora's outbox is now stored in resource STR# 1008. It is set to "Out", but users of localised version of Eudora may need to edit this string, in order to get the "Reply by Email" command to function properly.

  65. Ñ STR# 1008 also includes the templates for the standard reply headers ("In article etc..")

  67. Ñ It is now possible to CC a newly created article. In that case, NewsHopper leaves the "To" field in Eudora/Emailer empty.

  69. ÑThe Find, Find Again, Enter Selection, Rotate13 and Paste As Quote commands available in the text editor and clippings file windows.

  71. ÑDeleting the last article in the Article Viewer closes it.
